Spices & Tea: A Story of Lands, Journeys and Flavours

Some flavours seem destined to meet, and spices and tea are the perfect example. Born in very different parts of the world, their paths have nevertheless crossed over the centuries.

Carried along ancient trade routes and shaped by cultural exchanges, they blended to create beverages that travelled across borders and won over the tastes and habits of generations.

In our boutique, these encounters take shape through carefully crafted blends: deep and full-bodied black teas, naturally smooth rooibos, bright and fruity infusions, all enriched with spices that carry the soul of their lands of origin.

Spices Shaped by History and Tradition

Ceylon cinnamon, South Indian cardamom, peppercorns from Asia, ginger cultivated for millennia… Most of the spices we use today were born in regions where the soil is rich with history, legends and culinary traditions.

These spices travelled the great maritime and caravan routes, traded like precious treasures. Over the centuries, they built their reputation by flavouring royal banquets, bustling markets, religious ceremonies and warm drinks shared between travellers.

Today, their aromas still whisper the stories of these distant journeys.

Cinnamon: The Heartwarming Soul of Winter Cups

Cinnamon is one of the world’s oldest spices. Early traders guarded its secrets, claiming it was harvested from nests of giant birds perched on cliff sides, a legend designed to protect the exclusivity of their trade.

Native to Sri Lanka and southern India, cinnamon brings a warm, enveloping depth to tea. In our winter blends, it pairs naturally with apple, rooibos or Assam black tea, creating comforting cups ideal for crisp, cold days.

Cardamom: A Touch of Elegance

Cardamom, known as the “queen of spices,” grows in the lush forests of the Western Ghats in India.

Since antiquity, it has accompanied Middle Eastern hot drinks and perfumed traditional desserts and teas. Its subtly citrusy freshness lifts spiced blends beautifully.

In our blends, it brings a refined touch that harmonises the sweetness of apple, the warmth of cinnamon, and the soft, rounded character of rooibos.

Ginger: A Vibrant Burst of Character

Ginger, cultivated in Southeast Asia for more than three thousand years, is a symbol of Asian cuisine and traditional beverages. Its bright, warm aroma brings a lively, almost vibrant character to infusions.

It strengthens our most aromatic blends, especially those featuring pepper, cardamom or coriander seeds.

Perfect for cooler seasons, it adds a comforting warmth that shapes the cup.

Citrus Brightness: Winter Sunshine in Every Sip

Oranges and their zest travelled from Asia to Mediterranean shores, becoming staples of winter flavours. Their refreshing brightness balances warm spices and brings a lively touch to our blends.

In our selection, orange peel forms a perfect duo with cinnamon, apple and rooibos, creating infusions that are comforting yet wonderfully light.

Flowers & Fruits: The Poetry and Colour of Tea

Rose petals, whole verbena, marigold, blackcurrant or raspberry bring a soft aromatic and visual dimension to our teas, echoing the refinement of ancient blends.

Verbena adds radiance, rose brings delicacy, apple and berries offer familiar, gently sweet notes.

These elements soften the spices, create subtle balance and reveal another layer of the blend’s personality.
